NOKIA AND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY SYDNEY ANNOUNCE 5G INNOVATION LAB
Nokia has today announced a five-year partnership with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to build and run a state-of-the-art 5G innovation facility at the university’s Tech Lab campus in Sydney, Australia. The 5G Innovation Lab will enable Nokia, UTS and their partners to push the boundaries of 5G technology by testing exciting new 5G use cases with real world applications, including Industry 4.0, IoT and smart cities. While providing a live 5G test bed for commercial partners, the 5G Innovation Lab will also serve as an environment for new research opportunities within the ICT sector.

Mobiilioperaattori 61 %, systeemi-integraattori/IT-konsultti 36 %, Telecom infratoimittaja 31% ja toimialaan erikoistunut softatoimittaja 26 %.
Koska summa on enemmän kuin 100 %, niin vastaaja on voinut sanoa useamman kuin yhden vaihtoehdon, mikä osoittaa selvästi ettei mielipiteet ole tiukasti lukittuja vaan etsitään toimivinta ratkaisua kokonaisuuden kannalta. Nokiahan toimittaa privaverkkoja paitsi suoraan, myös kaikkien noiden muiden kanssa joten peiton voisi olettaa täydellinen.

Videon mukaan kyseessä on merkittävä laajannus aiempaan verrattuna seuraavan neljän vuoden aikana. Ilmeisesti viesti on kohdennettu ensisijaisesti omalle ja potentiaaliselle asiakaskannalle. Vaikea tuon perusteella arvioida kuinka merkittävä se on Nokialle, mutta tuskinpa vähäinenkään.

Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced the introduction of two new professional level 5G certifications. Industrial Automation Networks and Distributed Cloud Networks are part of Nokia’s program to train and certify industry professionals on 5G technology, from network access to application management.
Since their launch last year, registrations for the first two courses in Nokia’s 5G learning program totaled more than 22,000 globally across many industries. Building on this successful foundation, the new certifications highlight the potential of 5G to revolutionize industries from manufacturing to transportation, to healthcare and more. The Nokia 5G Readiness Report found that by 2030, 5G will deliver $8trn in value globally to businesses, economies and societies.Together, the Distributed Cloud Networks and Industrial Automation Networks trainings reveal how 5G can greatly improve industry performance. Its enhanced speed and ultra reliable low latency produces tangible increases in safety, productivity and efficiency.
As with the rest of the courses in its 5G Certification Program, Nokia uses compelling, real-life examples of how 5G enables Industrial Automation, such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) in a manufacturing environment. Building on this example, the Distributed Cloud Networks course demonstrates the power of cloud computing at the edge, essential for managing the real-time pinpoint movement of AMRs through a confined manufacturing space .

The Nokia Bell Labs 5G Certification Program, accessible from the Nokia website, focuses on the knowledge and skills professionals need to make the most of 5G’s capabilities today and in the future. Gaining a certification by passing the associated exam will establish industry-recognized professional credentials. Two additional professional level certifications in Network Slicing and Secure Networks will be released later in 2021. Each course has approximately a 6-hour run time which can be completed at the learner’s own pace.

‒ Jos noista kahesta pitää valita, niin kyllä telesektori on voittaja tässä, sinänsä ikävässä tilanteessa tietysti. Eli sekä operaattorit että laitevalmistajat ovat voittajia. Siinä vaiheessa, kun etätyösuositukset tai etätyöpakot tulivat, niin liikenne verkoissa kasvoi hyvin voimakkaasti miltei yön yli. Lisäkapasiteettia on tarvittu, ja ihmiset ja yritykset ovat oppineet käyttämään viestintäverkkoja ja uudenlaisia työkaluja. Ja siinä mielessä me ollaan voittajia. Surullista että siihen tarvittiin tämmönnen pandemia, että tämmönen dikiloikka saatiin aikaan, mutta varmaan sitten kun tää on ohi, se myöskin jää päälle ja että viestintäverkoissa edelleen liikenne on voimakasta. Meidän vuodesta 21 mä en varmaan voi hirveesti sanoa, meillä on Capital Market Day tulossa maaliskuun 18:sta, siellä sitten lisää.

Tokyo, Japan – Nokia today announced a partnership with Qtnet, INC. a subsidiary of Kyushu Electric Power utility company, to launch a local 5G private wireless network. This is the first time a local 5G network is being deployed in the region through commercial spectrum license acquisition.
QTnet, which provides broadband and related services to customers, will now be able to launch new services using Nokia’s local 5G technology, thus creating a sizeable business opportunity. The private wireless network will be based on the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud, a high performance, private wireless networking and edge computing platform that will power digital transformation across the Kyushu region.
Together, Nokia and QTnet will also join forces with the Kyushu Institute of Technology to provide new local 5G-enabled services on the Institute’s university campus. This will be the first industry-academia collaboration in Japan to create a local 5G environment in a university campus setting. Services include self-operating stores, walking support for the visually impaired, cafeteria crowd monitoring, and new trials with partners and research labs.
Sadao Mouri, Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer at QTnet, said: “Local 5G has the potential to enable new applications and business models while dramatically improving users’ quality of life. By deploying robust local 5G private wireless networks in Kyushu, we will enable anchor institutions like education, healthcare and first responders to reach new levels of efficiency and productivity. Nokia’s track record in providing reliable local 5G networks will be an important milestone in creating new businesses.”

Tässä paikallisen 5g verkon tulevan käyttäjän arviossa verkon merkityksestä ja siitä saatavista hyödyistä tiivistyy ilmeinen kysyntäpaine potentiaalisilta asiakkailta Nokialle ja verkkolaitteiden toimittajille yleensä.
Voiko olla niin, että ne yritykset ja tiedeyhteisöt, joilla ko. verkko on, saavat merkittävää etua ja tehokkuutta toimintaansa?
Lisäksi, vaatimuksena luonnollisesti yksityiselle 5g verkolle on ”Trusted network for critical purposes by Nokia”!
Todennäköisesti asiakkaat ovat valmiita maksamaan olennaisista verkon parametreista, ehkä halpa ja vuotava ei käy.
