QUBT High on Hype - Too Many Red Flags

Hi all,

Best wishes for 2025. After the recent quantum computing hype I decided to do some research on the sector. While a lot of this move is obviously driven by pure hype, there still are some companies that could actually become something if they are able to execute.

Spoiler alert: QUBT isn’t one of them.

I wrote this article on why I believe QUBT is one of the worst quantum computing stocks out there. If you don’t like reading articles I also have this TLDR X thread.

Looking forward to discuss QUBT or Quantum computing further. One of the best “pure play” quantum computing stocks seems to be IONQ, but even that one is obviously significantly overextended now and trading on pure momentum without the fundamentals to back it up.

This is interesting when it is known that many short sellers have burned their keys and the fact that QUBT has just made a deal with e.g. Nasa.

While it’s true short sellers have been burned by QUBT’s recent run-up and NASA’s name carries weight, the actual NASA contract appears to be only worth about $26,000. That’s far from game-changing for a company valued in the billions.

Despite the hype, QUBT’s minimal revenue, frequent pivots, and repeated share offerings remain red flags. Even a NASA deal of this size doesn’t significantly alter the firm’s fundamentals or justify a lofty valuation. As is all mentioned in the article.

How can one short qubt? What instruments are there for this purpose?

Stock is down 50% today after Jesen Huang mentioned that he doesn’t see an immediate future.

Most of us knew this as well, but the stocks were so hype driven. Hope some of you made some money here.
