Täällä kun on nyt 5v kulkenut urakoitsijan näkökulmasta, niin tuo parkkeeraus on ollut iso ongelma jo alusta alkaen. Ei millään riitä, vaikka kokoajan laajennetaan parkkipaikkoja ja bussit ajaa rallia vaskiluotoon.

Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the Caribbean island of Curaҫao with a 25 MW / 25 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The system will enable the expansion of renewable energy capacity and the reduction of carbon emissions, representing an important step towards a sustainable energy future for the island. The order was placed by Aqualectra, Curacao’s government owned utilities company, and will be booked by Wärtsilä in Q2, 2024.

Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the electrical systems needed to convert two Scandlines ferries to a plug-in hybrid solution. The ferries operate on the Puttgarden, Germany – Rödby, Denmark route, and the conversion represents a key element in Scandlines’ target to achieve emission-free operations on the route by 2030. The company’s overall vision is to realise zero emissions on all operations by 2040. The order with Wärtsilä will be booked in Q2 2024.
Wärtsilä will engineer and deliver the hybrid converters, the energy storage system (ESS) and the energy management system (EMS), as well as the switchgears, transformers, the onboard port charger, and replacement components in the existing switchboard equipment. In addition, Wärtsilä will supervise the installations, carry out the commissioning, and provide preventive maintenance support services. The equipment is scheduled for delivery in summer 2025.

Technology group Wärtsilä is supplying a 48 MW peaking power plant to support the growing use of renewables in the United Kingdom. The plant is under construction and is delivered under an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with British energy services and solutions company Centrica Distributed Generation Ltd. The order was booked by Wärtsilä in June 2023.
When completed, the plant will provide essential grid balancing power generation alongside an existing 49 MW peaking plant in Brigg, Lincolnshire. This will create nearly 100 MW of fast response assets capable of meeting demand when renewable generation is insufficient. The new plant will operate with four Wärtsilä 31SG gas engines. The fast-starting Wärtsilä engines can reach full output within as little as 2,5 minutes with no minimum up or down time, thus making them ideal for compensating the intermittent supply from wind and solar power.
The new plant is expected to be fully operational in early 2025. Once connected to the grid, the plant will have the capacity to power 20,000 homes for a full day when required. The high performance Wärtsilä engines with their best-in-class life cycle cost will provide stable and reliable power to the grid.

Technology group Wärtsilä has signed two Lifecycle Agreements covering two ferries owned by Japanese operator Shin Nihonkai Ferry Co., Ltd (SNF). The vessels are each powered by four Wärtsilä 31 engines. The agreements are designed to provide optimal operational support in ensuring reliable and efficient performance for the ferries, which serve the busy Yokosuka and Shinmoji route. The order was booked by Wärtsilä in April 2024.
As ferries have an important role to play in meeting the growing demand for environmentally sustainable transport options, ferry operators are under pressure to reduce costs, fuel consumption and emissions, all while keeping to vessel schedule without delay for the passengers. That’s why ferry operators are increasingly looking towards services and solutions which enable operations to run smoothly and efficiently.
The two five-year agreements cover the ‘Hamayu’ and ‘Soleil’ ferries and provide remote 24/7 support in case of need. The experts in Wärtsilä Expertise Centres are available to support the crew remotely whenever needed, giving guidance, advice, and recommendations. A cyber secure connectivity makes it possible to collaborate remotely in real-time. Getting the issues resolved quickly maximises the vessel uptime ensuring smooth operations.
The scope of the agreements also includes asset diagnostics and anomaly detection via Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight predictive maintenance service. Expert Insight proactively identifies and highlights potential failures and early indications of equipment deterioration that cause vessels to run less efficiently.

Rikkipitoisuuden rajoitushan tehtiin alunperin sen takia, että rikkipitoinen polttoaine tuottaa palaessaan sekä ihmiselle että luonnolle haitallisia yhdisteitä, eikä maalla ole saanut vuosikymmeniin polttaa samanlaisia polttoaineita käyttämättä savukaasupesureita. Tältä pohjalta en usko, että suunta ihan vähällä muuttuisi, vaikka rikkiyhdisteiden vähenemisellä ilmakehässä mahdollisesti onkin joku vaikutus lämpenemiseen. Tai siis niiden väheneminen on vähentänyt lämmittäviä tekijöitä kompensoivia aerosoleja ilmakehässä 
Sama juttu mahdollisesti pienhiukkaspäästöjen kanssa, tappavia alailmakehässä mutta hyödyllisiä ylempänä.

Joo, aikoinaan puhuttiin happosateista ja noitahan löytyy tietyn aikakauden (tieteis)elokuvista. Happosateet olivat nimenomaan rikki- ja typpioksidin teollisuuspäästöjä. Happosadetulevaisuus ei toteutunut, kun tehtaissa alettiin suitsia päästöjä ja tuohon saatiin globaalikonsensus - samaan tapaan kuten freoneihin.

Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the engines, fuel gas supply system and thrusters for two new Ropax ferries being built for French operator La Méridionale, a subsidiary of CMA CGM. The vessels, which have been specifically designed to minimise emissions, are to be built at the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai) Co., Ltd., and will operate between Marseille and Corsica. The order with Wärtsilä was booked in April 2024.
Ferries are on the front line of the energy transition and are among the first sectors to target net zero-carbon operations. However, ferry operators face increasing pressure from customers who continue to expect a fast and cost-efficient service, which runs to a timetable, and is increasingly sustainable. Ferry operators, such as La Méridionale, are looking to leverage technologies which offer minimal service disruption and to maximise return on investment, all while reducing carbon footprint.
The 180-metre-long ships will be able to accommodate 1,000 passengers as well as cargo freight. The Wärtsilä equipment for these ferries is scheduled to be delivered in mid- 2025, with the ferries expected to enter service during the first half of 2027, operating between Marseille and Corsica.

Teknologiayhtiö Wärtsilä on tänään julkaissut ensimmäisenä maailmassa suuren mittakaavan vetyvalmiin moottorivoimalaitoksen, joka toimii 100 % vedyllä. Vetyvalmis voimalaitos mahdollistaa tulevaisuuden nollapäästöiset voimajärjestelmät.
Kansainvälisen energiajärjestön (IEA) World Energy Outlook 2023 -raportti1 osoittaa, että vety on olennainen osa tulevaisuuden sähköjärjestelmiämme. Raportin mukaan polku kohti päästötöntä maailmaa vuoteen 2050 mennessä edellyttää, että sähköntuotannossa käytetään 17 miljoonaa tonnia vetyä vuonna 2030, ja määrän on tarkoitus nousta 51 miljoonaan tonniin vuoteen 2050 mennessä.
Uusiutuvien energialähteiden käyttöönotto maailmanlaajuisesti kaksinkertaistuu tämän vuosikymmenen loppuun mennessä.2 Tämä luo oikeat olosuhteet käyttää ylimääräistä puhdasta sähköä vetypohjaisten, hiilineutraalien polttoaineiden tuotannossa ja siten mahdollistaa 100 % uusiutuvaan energiaan perustuvat voimajärjestelmät.
Uusiutuvien energialähteiden lisääminen ei kuitenkaan yksinään riitä maailmanlaajuisten nettonollatavoitteiden saavuttamiseen. Joustavia voimantuotantoratkaisuja, kuten moottorivoimalaitoksia, tarvitaan tasapainottamaan saatavuudeltaan vaihtelevia uusiutuvia energialähteitä. On keskeistä, että nämä voimantuotantoratkaisut täyttävät myös tulevaisuuden vaatimukset ja voivat käyttää kestäviä polttoaineita, jotta energia-ala voi saavuttaa hiilineutraaliuden.
Wärtsilä vastaa tähän tarpeeseen uudella vetyvalmiilla moottorivoimalaitoksellaan, joka voidaan muuntaa toimimaan 100 % vedyllä. Uusi moottorivoimalaitos on huomattava kehitysaskel verrattuna olemassa olevaan teknologiaan, joka voi toimia maakaasulla ja 25 tilavuusprosentin vetyseoksilla.
Vetyvalmis voimalaitos perustuu Wärtsilä 31 -moottorialustaan, joka on maailman tehokkain. Se yhdistyy sähköverkkoon 30 sekunnissa käynnistyskäskystä, varmistaa energian saatavuuden polttoainejoustavuuden ansiosta ja tarjoaa vertaansa vailla olevan kuormanseurantakyvyn sekä korkean osakuormatehokkuuden. Wärtsilä 31 -moottorialustalla on yli miljoona käyttötuntia ja yli 1 000 MW asennettua tuotantokapasiteettia maailmanlaajuisesti.
Wärtsilän 100 % vetyvalmiin moottorivoimalaitoksen konsepti, joka perustuu Wärtsilä 31 -moottorialustaan, on saanut TÜV SÜD:n sertifikaatin, mikä kertoo laadusta ja turvallisuudesta. TÜV SÜD:n H2-valmiuden sertifiointi koostuu kolmesta vaiheesta ja kolmesta vastaavasta sertifikaatista. Konseptisertifikaatillaan Wärtsilä on nyt saavuttanut ensimmäisen vaiheen moottorivoimalaitoksensa konseptisuunnittelusta. 100 % vetyvalmiin moottorin odotetaan olevan tilattavissa vuonna 2025 ja toimitettavissa vuodesta 2026 alkaen.

Wärtsilä julkisti aamulla ensimmäisen 100 %:sti vedyllä toimivan moottorivoimalakonseptin. Tämä tapahtuu etuajassa aiemmin arvioituun vuoden 2025 lanseeraukseen verrattuna, mikä kertoo teknologian kypsymisestä. Moottorin kaupallinen menestys on kuitenkin vielä monen mutkan takana.

Technology group Wärtsilä has signed a five-year Maintenance Agreement covering 169,5 MW of power generation for two Moroccan power plants. The plants are owned and operated by the Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau potable (ONEE), Morocco‘s public utility in charge of the production, transport and distribution of electricity. This agreement is a renewal of a previous five-year contract for the power plants in Tan Tan and Dakhla, in southern Morocco. Each of these two emergency plants operates with Wärtsilä 46 engines.
The scope of the agreement includes supply of spare parts, major overhauls, and full technical support. It takes effect in Q1, 2024, and will minimise the total cost of ownership of the plants’ Wärtsilä assets.
