Delta Air Lines and Airbus have signed a memorandum of understanding calling for collaboration on the research and development of hydrogen-powered aircraft and the related infrastructure “ecosystem,” the Atlanta-based airline said Thursday.
Part of the carrier’s Flight to Net Zero plan to scale and advance sustainable technologies, the agreement makes Delta the first U.S. airline to partner with Airbus on the OEM’s Zero E program to develop a hydrogen-powered, narrowbody-class airliner scheduled to enter service in 2035. Airbus has already signed agreements with three other airlines—European budget carrier EasyJet, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, and Air New Zealand—to study infrastructure needs for future hydrogen-powered aircraft.

En kyllä oikein ymmärrä mikä noiden tviittien pointti on. Tottakai spot hinnan nousu näkyy pidemmissä toimitussopimuksissa viiveellä, tottakai voidaan vaihtaa akkukemiaa, mutta se tarkoittaa nykyteknologialla akkukapasiteetin laskua. Sähköautojen suosion merkittävä kasvu vaatisi akkukapasiteetin kasvua ja hintojen laskua, en oikein löydä noista tviiteistä mitään mikä sitä puoltaisi.

BEV+PHEV +108% ja FCEV +82% niin ei tuo Fuel Cell vempeleiden myynnin kasvukaan nyt ihan mitätöntä ole. Akkuautoissa tosiaan vielä pystytty nostamaan rangea ja laskemaan hintaa, mutta mineraalimarkkinan realiteetit uhkaa tätä kehitystä. Jossain kohtaa markkinaosuutta täytyy ruveta valtaamaan niistä käyttäjistä joille range, hinta ja/tai latausajat on iso ongelma ja siinä kohtaa nämä ongelmat pitäisi olla ratkaistu. Erityisesti raskaassa liikenteessä näyttää että tämä ei ole ihan lähitulevaisuudessa tapahtumassa.

Joo, onhan tuossa aika jäätävä ero auton valmistuksessa tarvittavan akkumateriaalien määrässä. Ja edelleen tahdon alleviivata että geopoliittista riskiä ei vetyteknologiassa ole.
Tässä katsaus Nikolan aiesopimusten voimalinjajakoon. Vetyvehkeistä aiesopimuksia 3x enemmän kuin beveistä, vaikka juurikin TRE BEV pääsi ekaksi markkinoille. Kun tiedetään myös Kiinan FCEV ajoneuvojen erittäin vahva kasvu, niin väitän että kysyntää vetyajoneuvoille on. Sama tilanne on ympäri maailmaa.

The United Kingdom is becoming one of the top locations in which hydrogen fuel cell cars are being deployed, and some expect the UK to become a “market leader” in the use of the technology.

According to First Hydrogen CEO of Automation Steve Gill, the H2 sector in the United Kingdom is already well underway, and vehicles such as those from his company will start being adopted in greater numbers this year.

The goal of Aviation H2 to become Australia’s first hydrogen-fueled aviation company is nearing completion, with work on the first modification prototype set to begin soon.
The company has completed the research phase and will soon begin testing and proving the concept by modifying turbofan engines. Following that, they will begin building Australia’s first hydrogen-powered aircraft, which they hope to have in the air by the middle of 2023.

Maailman suurin rahtiyritys Maersk tilaa automaattisia ja etäajettavia sähkörekkoja kehittävältä Einridelta (ruotsalainen startup jossa mukana mm. Ex-googlelaisia) 300 rekkaa jenkkien logistiikkaoperaatioihinsa (joskin toimitus vasta tulevina vuosina)
Maersk on myös investoinut firmaan.

Vetyajoneuvojen kysyntä kasvanut merkittävästi. Odotin sen tapahtuvan joskus ensi vuonna, mutta se on tapahtunut jo nyt. Kohta lienee kysyntää enemmän kuin tarjontaa, mikä ei ole hyvä juttu sekään. Ensi vuonna on autovalmistajilla enemmän kapasiteettia, koska monet polttokennoja valmistavat tehtaat valmistuvat. Asiakkaat alkavat tuoda painetta nyt myös tuon vedynjakeluverkoston kehittämiseen.

Germany’s hydrogen refuelling infrastructure has received a substantial boost today (March 29) with Hy24 set to provide €70m ($77m) in funding to support H2 Mobility Deutschland.
The €70m ($77m) investment will also be supported by an additional €40m ($44m) from existing shareholders including the likes of Air Liquide, Daimler Truck, Linde, Shell, and many more.
Hy24’s funding for the project also comes from its Clean H2 Infra Fund arm which the company says is, to date, the “world’s largest” hydrogen fund.
The aim of H2 Mobility is to create a hydrogen refuelling backbone that can enable the accelerated rollout of hydrogen mobility solutions across heavy, light, and medium applications.

Käsittämättömän nopeata kehitystä lentokoneiden vetysäiliöissä. Kuulemma vuosikymmenellä nopeutu jumbojetin kokoisen vetylentokoneen markkinoilletulo… Tiiä siitä, mutta melkoisen vakuuttavat speksit noilla tankeilla on ja nestemäinen vety on operointikustannuksiltaankin erittäin lupaava.
Vähän haisee oikeasti sille, että myös eVTOLleille vety olisi fiksuin voimalinja.

Tuo on kieltämättä aika hyvä juttu, aikaisemmin paino ja tilavuus ja koko rajoittanut tuota tankin käyttöä.
Onkos muuten zeroavian testeistä kuulunut mitään? Niidenhän piti testata tuota Hypoint turbo air cooler systeemiä?

Norwegian tekikin fiksusti, kun myi suuren osan koneistaan korona alkaessa ja alkoi liisata. Saa nähdä milloin vetylennot on todellisuutta.

En seuraa niin tiiviisti lentokonealaa että osaisin vastata noista aikatauluista yhtään mitään. Ymmärrän toki yleisellä tasolla vetyvoimalinjan hyödyt myös lentokonekäytössä. Se on erityisen lupaavaa että puhutaan jopa kustannusten laskusta.

Hmm. Tämä on mielenkiintoinen kommentti. Minkähän hintaista olisi bensa pumpulla ilman valtioiden tukia? Kumulatiivisesti, mitä veikkaat, kumpaa on tuettu enemmän, fossiilisia polttoaineita vai sähköautoilua? Kumpaa olisi järkevämpää tukea nyt hintojen noustessa, jos mietitään puhtaasti päästöjä, ei menestystä seuraavissa vaaleissa?
