Aprillipäivän uutinen lipsahtanut eetteriin pari viikkoa etuajassa?
Parantaa napin painajan yhteyksiä yhteyksien ruuhkautuessa. Etuilunappi?
Kuuluu ilmeisesti viimeaikaiseen kampanjaan, jossa Ericsson on näyttävästi tuonut esille busineksensä eettisiä puolia. Tuotekehityksen seuraava askel voisi olla nappi, jolla saisi kaikki muut yhteydet sadan metrin säteellä katkeamaan, jotta itselle jäisi enemmän kaistaa. Tässähän on mahdollisuuksia vaikka mihin.
UKRAINE HAS MADE HUAWEI EVEN MORE TOXIC FOR EUROPEAN TELCOS
With offices and staff throughout Europe, Huawei remains a key supplier to some of the region’s biggest operators. It is a Chinese company, with headquarters in Shenzhen, but has always claimed independence from Chinese rulers who have refused to condemn Putin. To critics, its alignment with the official Chinese position will make those claims ring even hollower.
European telcos’ reliance on Huawei was previously illustrated in a report by Danish advisory group Strand Consult.
Are these operators now reassessing their relationships with Huawei after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine? Telefónica and Orange declined to comment, and none of the others had answered that question at the time of writing. But if individuals such as Cahn, Olisa and Lewandowski were concerned about their links to the Chinese kit vendor, the companies that have fueled its revenue growth outside China are likely to be worried too.
INDUSTRY 4.0 IN THE UK – FOUR 4G/5G INSTALLS, FOUR 4G/5G INDUSTRIES (AND FOUR NOKIA WINS)
The other thing that became apparent when searching the archives – internally and externally – for UK industrial-cellular deployments is quite how often Finnish vendor Nokia is involved. It is the kind of statement that will get backs up, among the wider network supplier community. But the below article presents four crucial private LTE/5G deployments, arguably the highest-profile in the UK right now, and Nokia is propping up each, at least from the point of view of networking gear.
Which is not to say that Nokia has cornered the market. This is Nokia’s game, which it has been playing with industry for decades; just as it is for certain others, as well. But the game has been opened up, with the evolution of cellular capabilities and also with the evolution of cellular architectures. Industrial customers have a wide and expanding range of suppliers to pick from, and the likes of Nokia have a battle to stay ahead of the race. This (short) list of UK private network deployments (and one trial) only suggests that, for now, Nokia might just have it, by a nose. Not that it proves that, clearly.
Software Supply Chain Security Turns to Risk Mitigation
3/8/2022
2021 was a wild year for cybersecurity, memorable for a slew of data breaches, including cloud provider outages, ransomware attacks and software supply chain compromises.
Palo Alto’s Cloud Threat Research Group also released research highlighting software supply chain concerns, noting that supply chain flaws are difficult to detect and that third-party costs pose hidden risk. It pointed out several relevant software supply chain attacks. Its report laid out how attackers are poisoning continuous integration pipelines and causing cascading impacts on downstream software consumers.
It also highlighted concerns associated with infrastructure-as-code and container templates, which are increasingly being used by organizations in support of pushes for cloud adoption and digital transformation initiatives.
The software supply chain, from both proprietary and open source perspectives, is fragile and warrants more security rigor, yet most organizations aren’t quite sure where to begin.
Thankfully, public and private organizations are releasing guidelines and best practices that companies can leverage to improve their software supply chain security hygiene and mitigate risk to their organizations and customers.
Respect Nokia!
16 March 2022
Espoo, Finland –Nokia has been announced by Ethisphere Institute as one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies®” for the fifth year in a row. In 2022, 136 honorees were recognized spanning 22 countries and 45 industries. Nokia is one of five winners in the telecommunications industry and the only Finnish company to be honored.
Jefferies analyst Janardan Menon initiated coverage of Nokia with a Buy rating and EUR 6 price target. 2022 should be strong year for telecom equipment makers due to to elevated U.S. C-band deployments and increased 5G roll-outs in Europe, though global wireless capex is likely to fall in 2023, Menon tells investors in a research note. The analyst sees Nokia benefitting from an acceleration in sales, margin expansion and a valuation re-rating.

Toivon, että tämä pitää paikkansa – sijoittajana lisäisin tuohon mieluusti “smart guys win at the end”.
