TLS do you know whats the status of Ford f150 DMS? Apparently it is production but is not enabeld in the new model? Any idea why?

@Piit,
It has been this way from launch, Ford are still working on the handsfree driving software. The release date is 2021 Q3.

I would assume that the DMS is all set to go. But given the target audience, I would guess that they are selling it as Handsfree driving not as a safety system. Of course, they have great human factors advisors, and with the experience of what happened with the Cadillac CT6 (0 accidents) compared with Tesla (many accidents) it is essential that they ensure the driver is engaged.

On the Caddie, it operates up to 137kph (85mph)
I beleive that on BMW yours only works when the car is stopped

“Ford confirms 2021 F-150 will be offered with hands-free driving technology | Autoblog” Ford confirms 2021 F-150 will be offered with hands-free driving technology

Ford told Autoblog that early F-150 buyers will either get the hardware that powers Active Drive Assist standard by ordering a top-of-the-line Limited model, or they’ll be able to add it to a Lariat, a King Ranch, or a Platinum trim for $895 once the company deducts a $100 early adopter incentive. They’ll then need to spend $600 to purchase the software, which they’ll receive via an over-the-air software update when it’s ready in the third quarter of 2021. At that point, the hardware and the software will be packaged together, and the bundle will cost $1,595.

Seeing Machines Limited

DMS leaders join forces as OmniVision and Seeing Machines formally collaborate

Seeing Machines Limited (AIM: SEE, “Seeing Machines” or the “Company”), the advanced computer vision technology company that designs AI-powered operator monitoring systems to improve transport safety, has advanced its previously announced Memorandum of Understanding to an executed License Agreement (“Agreement”) to license the Company’s Occula® Neural Processing Unit (“Occula®”) to OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (“OmniVision”).

This Agreement represents the first execution of the silicon license for Seeing Machines’ Occula®, which offers a unique NPU design that enables the development of low-cost, high-performance edge-AI to power future human-machine interfaces.

Further to the recently announced ‘three pillar embedded product strategy’, where Seeing Machines laid out its strategic approach to meet the broad and growing technology needs of the global interior monitoring market for Automotive, this collaboration brings the third pillar to life as the partners combine the Occula® Silicon IP with world-leading machine vision silicon technology for their customers.

OmniVision develops and delivers advanced imaging solutions to a variety of industrial and consumer markets, including Automotive. OmniVision has been delivering imaging products for over 15 years to automotive customers, offering products and technology which can place a camera anywhere in the car. OmniVision has a full portfolio of image sensors for the interior monitoring market and is presently the leading supplier of image sensors into the interior monitoring market segment.

Seeing Machines continues to grow as an automotive leader in DMS technology, having won contracts with a total five automotive Tier 1 customers for a steadily growing number of programs across six global car OEMs. The Company is now expanding its embedded product offerings, and extending its low-cost high performance embedded DMS know-how into the automotive Occupant Monitoring System (OMS) market.

Seeing Machines and OmniVision will work together to deliver optimised, highly integrated solutions to the global Driver and Occupant Monitoring System markets, leveraging existing and new customers globally.

Paul McGlone, CEO commented: "Seeing Machines has had a wonderful working relationship with OmniVision for over 5 years now, having successfully worked together on multiple automotive programs with a number of Tier 1 customers. This Agreement represents a natural next step for our two companies, to work strategically together to achieve the highest possible coupling between the imaging and processing domains.

“We are thrilled to continue working with OmniVision as both companies combine to continue to deliver excellent price versus performance Driver and Occupant Monitoring solutions to the market.”

Andy Hanvey, Director of Automotive Marketing at OmniVision commented: “We have been collaborating with Seeing Machines for over 5 years, because of their leading algorithm performance and leading position in the DMS market. With this agreement it will leverage the extensive sensor and technology that OmniVision has to offer, including Global Shutter Sensors, Nyxel® and CameraCubeChip™ along with Seeing Machines Occula® NPU to enable optimal performance for Driver and Occupant Monitoring System algorithms across the OmniVision family of world first, dedicated Automotive ASICs.”

Some latest feedback from glassdoor

For Veoneer some recent:

November 6th 2020:

“Worst company to work for. Be careful about the other positive reviews(they are fake).”

1.0

★★★★★

Former Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Iaşi

Doesn’t Recommend

Negative Outlook

I worked at Veoneer full-time for more than a year

Pros

Nothing special to mention. Besides the most basic stuff like work from home for a two days a months (which is bare minimum) there’s nothing that they offer that stands out. They offer some bonuses BUT even with those bonuses there total salary package is at most average if you take into consideration the market. It might seem a lot but if you do the math you realize it’s not that much. It’s ok if you don’t want to improve or learn anything. If you just want to type the same mindless and old (really buggy) code this is the place to come work.

Cons

Management treats employees as dirt. They lie to your face when you go through the hiring process so be carefull. They’re going to promise you everything you want to hear in order to sign with them. No regard for quality or any tahnicall security. You’re only hired to hopefully clean the garbage and if you don’t do it you take the blame for the current state. Even if developers are complaining and raising serious problems they get ignored. The only QA they do are some code reviews (that are suppose to “help” with quality and QA). The tests and code review are so superficial it’s laughable. Even though it’s garbage and it barely works it’s ok for management as long as you meet their production quotas . As a result so many problems appear that the bug list is endless. How can a company hire managers that brag all day about how much time they spend in meetings? (It’s totally unproductive and a total waste of money). Middle management doesn’t have any idea what they are doing. They only produce powerpoints and need constant babysitting by engineers and all other team members. They constantly need info even though you do daily meetings with them.(They can’t seem to remember anything or understand any technical problems. They only pretend to understand. There help or suggestions are laughable and it immediately shows what technical background they have ) . When you need help management is useless (at one point I asked my manager who can I talk to in order to learn more about the project I was going to work on. He told me I was supposed to know and that I should find out and tell him. Keep in mind I was just recently hired for just 1 week and he’s been working for a couple of years). Most of them are hired because if connections not because of technical knowledge or any kind of serios ability . HR doesn’t care about the current situation. Criticize the process and you become the enemy. Stuck in ancient babylonian times. There’s nothing to learn and no desire to improve. Most of the teams are yes men. Don’t think just do and if something goes wrong you are probably going to take the blame.

Advice to Management

Hire knowledgeable middle management. Because of gross technical incompetence projects are failing or are taking to long to develop because of poor leadership. There lying to upper manager about the current situation. Ask honest feedback from developers. in order to maybe have a chance to save the projects and company reputation. No matter how much you lie your reputation is already going to the toilet.

“Worst Management even and Salary Hikes”

1.0

Current Employee - Lead Engineer in Bangalore

Doesn’t Recommend

I have been working at Veoneer full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Time Flexibility and Location in Bangalore

Cons

No Proper process they follow from HR To your immediate manager, Mostly Nepotism here. You will feel like you are working under cheap govt labor. No value for your skills whatever you are only managers are biased to some people listen to only them, No vales for your Skills, task done and knowledge to earn. No proper hikes. More than parliament politics you can see here

Advice to Management

Please address and arrange Skip level meetings, Have some seriousness when lead or employee bring some concerns or what’s happening to or in or with team. Stop blaming employees because manager words, Managers are Biased with some few people and they only Listen to them, Some managers doesnot know which and all they handle teams under them, they reject request from counter part by saying we dont handle this , there are stories if you likes to hear whats happening there. As a honest worker i am requesting to management do check whats happening, otherwise instead of growing it may decay teams and projects

But lets treat these with a healthy skepticism, shall we?

Most of them are hired because if connections not because of technical knowledge or any kind of serios ability . HR doesn’t care about the current situation. Criticize the process and you become the enemy

At least the bolded text above would match with the final thesis where Smart’s Program manager was interviewed (See below). So perhaps Veoneer has some issues with hiring new inexperienced people. I mean if about 2000 of their staff has been fired during couple years.

But lets hope that Seeing is doing fine with Veoneer

I think this deal could be big turning point for SEE. This could be huge: cheap unit for oem’s = lot of volume = lot of money.

One thing I miss is that how does this link to OVT’s news from the 4th. And howcome OVT is lisencing software - I thought software comes from tier 1 players hw from actors like OVT. Is this a route to downplay traditional sourcing model? If so, its a good move.

I am egar to hear colins reaction on this :grin:

Lets be honest - new ones are more positive. In Autumn they were letting go employees so that would explain few bad ones there.

Interestingly ”business Outlook”-gets bad grade in the last few glassdoor posts…

Mielenkiinnosta kysyn: omistaajo joku tätä lappua? Ja jos omistaa, lienee kyseessä tuo OTC-lappu?

Vahvassa nousussa ollut, tosin päiväkohtaiset heilahtelut vahvoja. Millainenkohan päivävaihto kyseisellä intrumentilla? Kyllähän Seeing lienee ihan hyvä firma, tosin riskejäkin riittää. Smartin ja Seeingin yhteisomistuksella saisi kivan osuuden DMS -markkinoista.

What’s the news today? @Seeing2020, @Sophierns?

McGlone 30.1.2020: “Seeing Machines - - expects to be successful on a number of RFQs over the calendar year.”

Tulos = 0 DW

2 tykkäystä

Kyllä see:ssäkin on hyviä ajureita. Strategia on eri kuin seyellä. See:stä kai aikaisemmin ollut ostotarjouksia (bosch tupla kurssilla nykyhintaan).

Lisäksi näyttää ihan todennäköiseltä että see ilmoittaa casen kehityksestä eritavalla kuin seye (dw).

0 julkaistua dw:tä, mutta syksyllä kai toimari sanoi 100% kasvua y2y dms markkinaan (liikevaihtoon) vuoteen 25

Tuosta erosta huolimatta pipelinen molemmat firmat kommunikoivat ja sillä tarkoitetaan samaa asiakokonaisuutta. Seeingin pipeline ei ole kasvanut 2019 vuoden jälkeen

Katselin päivällä tuon GM:n keynote:n.

Sitten loppui uutiset. No 2019 tuli muutama vanhan sopimuksen jatko.

On totta, että laskevat eri tavalla. Smart laskee OEM:t ja jokainen voitettu malli on dw. SM laskee myös OEM:t, mutta puhuvat programeista (vrt Smartin kunkin OEM:n platform). Programin julkaisun yhteydessä ilmoitetaan, että kauppa sisältää esim. “a model”, “many models”, “much of the portfolio” jne.

Olen näitä tutkinut molemmilta osapuolilta ja tehnyt yhteenvetoa exceliin, toivottavasti kohta jakokelpoisessa kunnossa.

Omista hieman tuota OTC-lappua. Smartin mies toki olen lähtökohtaisesti.

Veoneer signs collaboration agreement with Qualcomm, creates the Arriver brand for software device
The vehicle technology company Veoneer has signed an agreement with Qualcomm Technologies, which means that the companies will collaborate on scalable solutions for advanced driver support, ADAS, “collaborative driving” and self-driving systems. The intention to start a collaboration was first communicated on 27 August 2020. This is stated in a press release.

The platform will address the automotive sector’s growing need for scalable upgradeable solutions, which require advanced and energy-efficient data, connectivity and cloud services for all types of vehicles.

The system integrates Veoneer’s next generation perception and driving policy software with Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride ADAS / AD scalable portfolio of System on a Chip, SoC, processors and accelerators.

Veoneer and Qualcomm have been collaborating for several months to create a product portfolio with a scalable, open ADAS and autonomous driving system that addresses the entire vehicle market with an integrated software and SoC platform

Arriver is the name of Veoneer’s dedicated software unit that develops complete software for perception and driving policy. Arriver is 100 percent owned by Veoneer, but for the collaboration with Qualcomm, the business will be managed in accordance with a special information management and reporting structure.

In connection with today’s agreement, Veoneer and Qualcomm have also made progress in planning when different functionalities can be implemented on the platform. Arriver’s software is already running on the Snapdragon Ride platform and the plan is for it to be offered to vehicle manufacturers within the next few months.

The collaboration between the companies has been presented to a number of vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers, which has resulted in very positive comments regarding the platform’s intended specifications and capacity.
