Kaikkiaan pääomamarkkinapäivä vahvisti käsitystä siitä, että yhtiö pyrkii tosissaan saavuttamaan taloudellisen kannattavuustavoitteensa. On mielenkiintoista seurata, miten energiavarastojen strateginen uudelleenarviointi etenee. Agnevall totesi pääomamarkkinapäivässä, että prosessi on lähtenyt liikkeelle yhtiön sisältä.
Technology group Wärtsilä has launched Quantum High Energy (QuantumHE), a next-generation energy storage system with advanced safety features and enhanced energy density, furthering its industry-leading track record and commitment to safety.

“QuantumHE is the safest, most competitive design on the market,” said Darrell Furlong, Director, Energy Storage Product Management and Hardware Engineering at Wärtsilä Energy. “Over the past year, we have conducted several large-scale fire safety tests and participated in numerous standards to improve the entire industry’s safety record. And we are committed to continue pushing the envelope, and remain committed to maintaining our 100% fire safety record for our GridSolv Quantum energy storage system.”
QuantumHE utilises 306 Ah battery cells, optimising the usable energy during the lifecycle and increasing the energy density of storage facilities by nine percent. The enhanced density reduces land requirements by up to fifteen percent and reduces the number of units required per facility, lowering equipment costs, expediting the development process and reducing maintenance requirements.
QuantumHE is compatible with Wärtsilä’s sophisticated GEMS Digital Energy Management Platform, which monitors, controls and optimises energy assets on both site and portfolio levels. GEMS can support large energy storage facilities with built-in control features and power purchase agreement optimisation. GEMS enables several advanced grid support services including black start, island operation and virtual synchronous generator (VSG) and it is evolving to provide predictive battery analytics.
Wärtsilä is the third largest energy storage system integrator, according to S&P Global, with a portfolio of over 3.5 gigawatts (GW) and over 7.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage capacity awarded, contracted, or in deployment.
Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the Cargo Handling Systems (CHS) for four new medium gas carrier vessels, expected to primarily carry ammonia. The 45,000 m3 capacity ships are under construction at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) yard in Korea for UK and Singapore based Purus. The order was placed by HMD and booked by Wärtsilä in Q4 2023. HMD is a key customer of Wärtsilä in the region’s medium gas carrier market, and the two companies have cooperated on a number of newbuild projects.
The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery to the yard in Q3 2024, and the first of the four ships is expected to commence commercial operations in the latter half of 2025.
Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the generating sets for two Indonesian power plants. The order has been placed by KEPCO E&C, a member of the consortium of KEPCO E&C-Adhi Karya, the consortium to build the plants for the Indonesian state-owned utility PLN. The order has been booked by Wärtsilä in November 2023.
The Sumbawa-2 plant located on Sumbawa island and the Tobelo plant on North Maluku will each operate with three Wärtsilä 31DF dual-fuel engines delivering an output of 30 MW. Initially they will be fuelled by mix of 35% biofuel and 65% diesel, in line with Indonesia’s biodiesel programme. They will switch to operate on natural gas when it becomes locally available. The plants will therefore be reducing carbon emissions while providing reliable electricity, and by doing so contribute to the decarbonisation journey of Indonesia.
The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled to be delivered during 2024 and the two plants are expected to become fully operational in spring 2025.
Teknologiayhtiö Wärtsilä lisää tuotevalikoimaansa neljä uutta metanolimoottoria ja laajentaa näin metanolimoottoritarjoomansa markkinoiden kattavimmaksi. Viime vuonna lanseeratun Wärtsilä 32 -metanolimoottorin lisäksi valikoimaa täydentävät nyt Wärtsilä 20, Wärtsilä 31, Wärtsilä 46F ja Wärtsilä 46TS -moottorit, jotka voivat käyttää metanolia polttoaineenaan.
Wärtsilä kehittää metanolikäyttöisyyden jälkiasennusratkaisuja koko dieselmoottorivalikoimaansa - niin uusille kuin jo käytössä oleville moottoreille. Jälkiasennusratkaisut ovat saatavilla tai kehitteillä Wärtsilä 31, Wärtsilä 32, Wärtsilä 46F, Wärtsilä 46TS ja Wärtsilä ZA40S -moottoreille. Wärtsilä 20 -moottorit voi puolestaan tilata versioina, jotka voivat käyttää metanolia polttoaineena. Kehittämällä kaikki nämä ratkaisut Wärtsilä pystyy nyt tarjoamaan metanolimoottoreita lukuisille eri alustyypeille.
Wärtsilä on yksi harvoista laivamoottorivalmistajista, joilla on mittava kokemus metanolimoottoreista. Yhtiö konvertoi ensimmäisen Stena Germanica -aluksen neljästä moottorista vuonna 2015. Viime vuonna lanseerattiin Wärtsilä 32 Methanol -moottori ja polttoaineen varastointi- ja syöttöjärjestelmä MethanolPac, ja kokonaisuus on yksi ensimmäisistä kaupallisesti saatavilla olevista metanolipolttoaineratkaisuista merenkulkualalle. Wärtsilä 32 Methanol -moottorilla on usean luokituslaitoksen tyyppihyväksyntä.
Nyt lanseerattuja metanolimoottoreita aletaan toimittaa vuodesta 2025 alkaen
Ekin kommentit siitä, miten Wärtsilä panostaa metanolimootteihin. 
Wärtsilä kertoi aamulla lanseeravansa neljä uutta metanolimoottoria, millä yhtiön metanolimoottorivalikoima nousee markkinoiden laajimmaksi. Käymiemme keskustelujen perusteella metanoli tulee olemaan hyvin keskeinen siirtymävaiheen (tai kenties hyvin pitkänkin ajanjakson) polttoaine ennen mahdollista siirtymistä puhtaan vedyn polttamiseen. Wärtsilä on tämän kehityksen kärjessä.
Aalto-yliopiston teknillisen fysiikan professori Peter Lund esittää kahden miljardin euron suuruista investointia Wärtsilän moottorivoimaloihin Suomen energiajärjestelmän ja sähkön pörssihinnan vakauttamiseksi. Artikkelista ei käy selville se seikka, että Wärtsilä on jo pitkällä moottoreidensa vety- ja ammoniakkivalmiuden kehittämisessä.
– Moottorivoimala lähtee kylmästä täyteen tehoon 1–2 minuutissa. Se on se palokunta, jota tarvitaan kun sähkömarkkinoilla palaa eli hinta on huipussaan, Lund vertaa.
Technology group Wärtsilä will supply, install, commission and start-up the biogas upgrading and liquefaction units for a Swedish bioLNG plant. The new plant is an extension of an existing biomethane and bioLNG plant supplied earlier by Wärtsilä, and will bring the production of bioLNG from 20 to 45 tons per day. The plant, located in Linköping, is owned by Tekniska Verken, a municipality owned company and a pioneer in Sweden in biogas and bioLNG production. The order with Wärtsilä was booked in Q4, 2023.
The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled to be delivered in December 2024, and the new plant is expected to become operational in the first half of 2025.
Technology group Wärtsilä will supply a 15-megawatt (MW) / 30-megawatt hour (MWh) energy storage system to Tampa Electric Company (TECO), which will be co-located with a 25 MW solar plant in Dover, Florida. The project will ensure grid reliability as the utility scales up its portfolio of solar energy. The order was booked to Wärtsilä’s order intake in March 2023.
The facility will include Wärtsilä’s GridSolv Quantum, a fully integrated, modular, and compact energy storage system. GridSolv Quantum offers the lowest lifecycle costs, fastest deployment times, highest quality control, and maximum flexibility. It is certified UL 9540 and UL 9540A compliant and fitted with advanced safety features.
The project is expected to become operational by fall 2024.

Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the cargo handling and fuel supply systems for four new 40,000 m3 gas carrier vessels. The ships are being built at the CIMC SinoPacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard in China for Norwegian shipowner Avance Gas. The order was booked by Wärtsilä in Q4 2023.
Wärtsilä’s range of complete cargo handling systems for gas tankers are designed to reduce operating costs and improve the vessel’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI). The award of this contract represents an endorsement of these benefits.
The Wärtsilä LPG Fuel Supply System (LFSS) is an innovative and reliable system that enables the use of LPG as fuel. This increases operational efficiency and supports environmental sustainability.
These will be the first medium sized LPG carrier vessels built at the SOE yard. The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled to be delivered in the latter part of 2024, and the ships are expected to be delivered in 2nd half 2025 and onwards.
Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the cargo handling and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) fuel supply systems for a new Medium Gas Carrier (MGC) vessel being built for Turkish ship owner Pasco Gas. The contract was signed with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) and was booked by Wärtsilä in Q4 2023.
The 45,000 m3 capacity vessel was ordered as an option following an earlier newbuild contract signed in February 2023. The Wärtsilä scope of supply is the same for both ships. HMD is a key customer of Wärtsilä, and the two companies have cooperated on several newbuild projects.
The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery to the yard commencing in July 2025.
Näitä tiedotteita tulee nyt niin tiuhaan, että Wärtsilä joutuu korostamaan kyseessä olevan taas uuden tilauksen - ettei kukaan vaan luule että puhe on edelleen siitä viisi päivää sitten tiedotetusta vastaavanlaisesta tilauksesta 
AGL:n kanssa 2021 tehdyn akkutoimituspuitesopimuksen isoin pala meni näköjään valitettavasti Fluencelle. Valtava tilaus, aina ei voi voittaa…
Jos ei jotain ole jäänyt huomaamatta, niin Fluence johtaa nyt tätä puitesopimusta tilauksissa 550 MW / 1050 MWh vs Wärren 250 MW / 250 MWh. Yksi 200 MW:n projekti on vielä jäljellä joten tässä jäätiin ainakin vähän Fluencen jalkoihin. Tosin tämä Liddellin patteri piti alunperin olla vain 150 MW ensivaiheessa, joten saapa nähdä. Toivottavasti nyt joka tapauksessa tuo viimeinen saadaan kotiin taas.

Analyytikot ovat laskeneet Wärtsilän suositusta lähes kautta linjan kurssinousun vuoksi. Eki ei ole tätä ainakaan vielä tehnyt, vaikka osakekurssi on jo hieman yli Inderesin suositushinnan. Myyntisuositusta on varmaankin turha odottaa. Miten olisi tavoitehinnan nosto, @Erkki_Vesola ? 
Merenkulku- ja energia-alan yhtiö on vuoden vahvimpia nousijoita Helsingin pörssissä. Nyt se panostaa vahvasti metanolimoottoreihin. Arvostus on noussut niin vahvasti yli tavoitehinnan, että analyytikoiden suositus on enää ’pidä’. Neljä analyytikkoa kahdestakymmenestä on antanut osakkeelle jopa myy-suosituksen. Tavoitehintojen keskiarvo osakkeelle on 12,17 euroa.
Moro H_L ja muut, suositus ja tavoitehintahan ovat aina voimassa niin kauan kunnes ne muuttuvat ja niiden ollessa keskenään ristiriidassa (kuten Wärrellä nyt) ajaa suositus tavoitehinnan edelle. En voi tietenkään lähteä fronttailemaan mahdollisia muutoksiamme näissä, mutta selvää on että mainittu ristiriita ei voi olla kovin pitkäkestoinen. Hassun joulumielen toivotuksin Eki
